Sodium Orthophosphate

Sodium phosphate is mainly used as an antioxidant but it can also be used as an acidity regulator, emulsifier, humectant, raising agent, sequestrant, stabilizer or thickener.


Sodium orthophosphate is a sodium salt of orthophosphoric acid. It consists of sodium ions (Na⁺) and phosphate ions (PO₄³⁻).

Use in Water Treatment:

Sodium orthophosphate is often used in water treatment to precipitate phosphates and prevent the excessive proliferation of algae, a phenomenon known as eutrophication. By precipitating phosphates, the availability of nutrients necessary for algae growth in water bodies is limited.
