Ivermectin

Ivermectin appears as a white crystalline powder that is odorless. It is slightly soluble in water but highly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and propylene glycol. Ivermectin is stable at room temperature but should be stored in a cool, dry place to prevent degradation. It is non-flammable, but can become combustible at very high temperatures.

It is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic medication, effective against parasitic infections caused by worms, external parasites, and protozoan infections.

Applications:

1. Antiparasitic Treatments:

   • Ivermectin is widely used in the treatment of parasitic infections such as onchocerciasis (river blindness), filariasis, strongyloidiasis, and scabies.
   • It is also used to treat external parasites like fleas and ticks on pets and livestock.

2. Veterinary and Biological Research:

   • Ivermectin is commonly used in veterinary studies to explore its efficacy against a variety of internal and external parasites in animals.
   • It is also used in molecular biology to study the impact of antiparasitic drugs on biological systems.

3. Cosmetic Applications:

   • Although less common, Ivermectin is sometimes included in topical treatments for rosacea, due to its anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic effects.
